About Rhizopon

Rhizopon is the manufacturer and registration holder of eight products based on the rooting hormone indolylbutyric acid (IBA). These products are registered and distributed in multiple countries, both within and outside the European Union. They are specifically designed to stimulate rooting in cuttings of ornamental crops.

How Rhizopon products support rooting

While plants are naturally capable of producing rooting hormones, treating cuttings with Rhizopon products ensures a more reliable and uniform rooting process, resulting in strong, high-quality roots. Applications are typically performed either:

  • At the supplier of the starting material, or

  • By the grower directly.

Treatment methods include:

  • Dipping the cuttings into rooting powders from the Chryzo or Rhizopon product ranges.

  • Immersing or applying a solution made from Rhizopon AA tablets dissolved in water.

Well-rooted cuttings take up water and nutrients more efficiently, resulting in faster growth, stronger plants, and improved resistance to pests and diseases.

Benefits for growers

Growers benefit not only from healthier plants, but also from greater uniformity and predictability in young plant production. Well-rooted batches allow for more simultaneous deliveries, reducing labor time and optimizing crop planning.

Availability

Rhizopon products are only available through certified suppliers for professional use.

For non-professional users in the United Kingdom, Chryzotop Green 0.25% rooting powder is available. This product can be purchased at garden centers and other retail outlets authorized for non-professional sales.

Regulatory compliance and safety

In the European Union and many countries worldwide, the use of products containing indolylbutyric acid requires formal registration. Rhizopon is the only registration holder and notifier for this active substance within the EU.

The risks to human health, animals, and the environment are thoroughly assessed by regulatory bodies. Safe use is ensured when products are applied strictly according to the latest version of the product label.

Always read the label before use.
